Recent Gastric Sleeve Beneficiaries: Lisa Lampanelli & Husband
Comedienne Lisa Lampanelli has almost magically transformed into a thinner version of her former self, and is apparently very pleased about it. The “queen of mean,” famous for her insulting brand of humor, did not want to be at the receiving end anymore, so she and husband Jimmy Cannizarro decided to get gastric sleeve surgery.
“I said, ‘this is the time’… We want to be a couple that’s not the punch line anymore,” said the 51-year-old comedian, admitting that she and Cannizarro are both fond of eating and that all their attempts at dieting had failed. 
Lampanelli lost 52 pounds in 10 weeks after her surgery in April 2012 and eventually shed 106 pounds off her heavy 248 pound frame. “I feel like I’ve reached the weight I’m supposed to be,” she said. “I’m officially a skinny b****!”
Lisa’s decision to get Sleeve Gastrectomy
Of course, being able to shop for and fit into the clothes that you like is a huge plus, and Lisa, who is now several sizes smaller, is enjoying all the benefits of her sleeve gastrectomy. She’s enjoying shopping around and the lady says she feels nice to be feeling emotions instead of just pressing them down with food.
But this state of achievement hasn’t come all easy for the star. She tried every get-fit-again trick before finally deciding to have her stomach cut and removed.
“For 32 years–from 18 to 50–I tried everything on the planet, and once I had a clean slate with that I said, ‘You know what? Nothing’s working for me. I’m going to treat this like the addiction that it is. I’m going to get this surgery and use it as a tool.’ That’s all it is, a tool to help me get over it,” she said.
The ex-contestant of “Celebrity Apprentice” confessed to In Touch Weekly magazine that even after the surgery, much effort was required on her part. She had to work on figuring out “how I even got overweight in the first place,” and then get down to fighting her addiction.
