Exclusion Criteria for SILS

In a 2013 study published in the Journal of Minimal Access Surgery, Reinhard Mittermair listed the following exclusion cases in which single incision sleeve gastrectomy may not be feasible:²

• Excessive sweating after eating

• Height exceeding 180 cm
• Patients with prior:
  • Surgery of the upper abdomen

Disadvantages

• Restricted maneuverability
